Macbeth Poster

My process for this project has recently changed direction after meeting with the head of the Theater department at the University.

I am very excited to say that I definitely have way more Ideas as far as process goes... for the first poster I have shown below I started playing with paint spill and trying to form something that looked like blood with paint. After doing that I was able to take a picture and bring them into the computer outlined the strokes with the pin tool and then changed the color to red. After this process I attempted to find fonts that looked like what I was doing by hand but nothing was working so I will make my own new typeface by hand one that will match what I see in my head.

After looking at this method I decided to push it a bit further by adding the kind of typeface that I myself had created in class by pressing letters into paper by hand. this was a very difficult process.

The first thing that I had to do was find each letter that I wanted to place on the paper but I had to put them on there one by one which was a very difficult process to line up the letters but I did the very best that I could.

What i will say is that, i appreciate the imperfections of the letters more so now than with the computer generated typeface that is attempted to be imperfect but is not.

So in conclusion this is what I finally came to as a draft for the poster. Its very bloody but yet it still has a very minimal view to it unlike the original poster that we saw that was created by the theater department.

I tried to create some hierarchy within the text by making some of the letters that needed to be bold, bold. I'm going to do another version of this one and bring it to class and it will show how the poster would look if i used the same typeface throughout.
